Most Expensive Celebrity Island Retreats Revealed

Bora Bora is the priciest island destination that celebrities love, with $11.4K needed for a one-week trip. A September 2026 report by the online luggage shop Eminent compared the destinations approved by the biggest stars and how much travellers should earn to comfortably afford a vacation there.
  • To visit Bora Bora without worrying about the money, the tourist needs to earn over $114K annually.
  • The most popular US destination among celebrities is Nantucket, Massachusetts, visited by the Obamas, Bill Clinton, and Ted Danson in recent years.
  • St. Barts sets the bar for a high-end food scene, with daily costs just for meals alone reaching $220.
The study analyzed island destinations that are favored by celebrities and how much regular tourists should earn to get a 7-day trip without straining their budget. The report compared signature activities, average hotel costs (4-5 stars), two-way flight, food, and transportation. Together, these costs made the total 7-day budget, and the necessary annual salary was calculated using vacation costs as 10% of the total earnings.

Here’s how the most luxurious celebrity-visited islands compare:

  1. Bora Bora, French Polynesia
  • Most recent celebrity visits: Paris Hilton, Barack Obama
  • Average flight price: $1,340 for a two-way trip
  • Average hotel costs: $8.9K for 7 days
  • Food costs: $616 for 7 days
  • Total vacation cost: $11.4K for 7 days
  • Salary needed: $114.3K
Bora Bora is the priciest among island destinations approved by celebrities, with just one week of vacation there costing almost $11.5K. The flight there and home is what makes the trip especially expensive: two-way tickets go for $1,340, twice as much as for the Bahamas or Sicily that rank next. For luxury pricing, Bora Bora offers swimming with manta rays and reef sharks and breakfast delivered by canoe, but to comfortably afford it, the tourist needs to earn $114.3K annually.
  1. Harbour Island, the Bahamas
Harbour Island is the second costliest islandic tourist spot for those who want a celebrity-worthy vacation. Seven days among pink sandy beaches would cost $6.1K, which won’t strain the budgets of people who earn $61.1K and more. Hotels here are the second most expensive on the list, at $4.5K for a week, and going to the Bahamas and home adds $620 more to the vacation budget. The activities here are also more costly than in Bora Bora, over $470+ for seven days.
  1. Mustique, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
A private island, Mustique is another celebrity-approved vacation destination, and most recently, it was visited by Kate Middleton and Prince William. The luxury villas and tight security don’t come cheap, and travellers need to budget $5.1K for a weekly stay. Activities here cost almost as much as two-way tickets to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, but the island offers a variety of pastime opportunities, from horseback riding to snorkeling and sailing.
  1. Sicily, Italy
Sicily, Italy, ranks fourth thanks to a 3-day celebration of Dua Lipa and Callum Turner’s wedding there. In cost, it follows closely behind Mustique, with $4.9K needed for a week-long trip and an annual salary of $49.5K to not worry about the budget. A 4- or 5-star hotel in Sicily will ask for $3.5K for 7 days, and travelling here is as expensive as flying to the Bahamas, at $620. But in addition to white beaches and yachts, Sicily also offers many historical sites like the city of Palermo.
  1. St Barts, Saint Barthélemy, France
St Barts is the fifth most expensive island vacation spot that celebrities love to visit. It has a wide range of activities for any type of tourist, including yacht sailing, shopping in designer stores, and fine dining. A week-long stay here would take $4.8K total, and food is among the most luxurious things to try here. Daily meals cost around $220, which amounts to over $1,500 for a week, all spent on a vibrant food scene.

A travel consultant from Eminent commented on the study:
“There are always celebrity-worthy spots that are much more affordable, like Jamaica or Hvar, Croatia. But these are the top of the list and maybe a good dream destination. People are often saving up for a great vacation, and these spots prove their quality and security by having Hollywood celebrities and politicians on the guest list.”
